VentureBeat writes that the leaders from games including EverQuest, Call of Duty, Diablo, God of War, Assassin’s Creed, Elden Ring and more are building a gaming platform that could one day take advantage of the metaverse.

Avalon foresees an interoperable universe, tied together through technologies such as game engines and blockchain technology. It’s not calling its own platform a “metaverse” because “we imagine that a single company can’t build that,” said Sean Pinnock, CEO of Avalon, in an interview with GamesBeat.

Meta Announces New AR/VR Hardware For the Next Four Years

During an internal presentation, Meta execs laid out plans for three new Quest headsets, AR glasses in 2027, and a ‘neural interface’ smartwatch.

Meta plans to release their first pair of smart glasses in 2025 and a full-fledged pair of AR glasses in 2027. This announcement shows how Meta is planning to keep investing in consumer hardware after a series of setbacks and cost cutting.
